Tyler Morton, a lifelong resident of Lexington, has grown up and lived in Green Acres, experiencing firsthand the essence of community, leadership, and love.
Humility, integrity, and grace were instilled within him from day one by his family and his hero Mary Ann Henderson-Adams, Tyler’s grandmother. Mary Ann Henderson-Adams was the first African American to graduate from the University of Kentucky in 1950. Seventy-one years later Tyler followed in her footsteps and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Philosophy.
During his time in college Tyler and his sister Taylor founded the Nonprofit Resilience Charity. Resilience Charity serves the underserved and underprivileged communities by providing leadership, advocacy, and resources. The non-profit has served over 3,000 children and youth on the Northside of Lexington in the span of 3 years.
Likewise, since college Tyler has served Lexington and surrounding counties as an Anesthesia Technician in the Operating Room at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. In this role, Tyler directly assists and supports the Anesthesia provider during both elected surgery and emergency cases.
Shortly after graduating from the University of Kentucky Tyler enrolled in the two-year Masters of Public Administration program at Eastern Kentucky University where he received his Master’s at an accelerated pace completing the program within one year.
While in graduate school Tyler served as an Intern in the 1st District Council Office under Councilman James Brown and was retained as a Legislative Aide serving the 1st District for a stint in 2023. Following his internship, Tyler went on to serve the 1st District as a legislative aide. In this role, he was tasked with providing support services in the areas of administration, communication, research, and public relations while also successfully establishing relationships and building bridges in both the 1st District and in government.
Simply put, Tyler is well rooted in the 1st District and is ready to collaboratively address our challenges head-on by drawing from his experience, upbringing, and solid values.
